The Oakland Roots delivered one of their most complete performances of the 2026 season Saturday night, defeating Phoenix Rising FC 3-0 at the Oakland Coliseum.

Marshawn Lynch was in the house today driving around the stadium during halftime to hype up the crowd. 

Oakland came out attacking from the opening whistle and quickly took control of the match. In the 7th minute, Bruno Lapa opened the scoring after a beautiful through ball from Jesus De Vicente found him inside the box. Lapa's shot deflected off the Phoenix goalkeeper and into the net, giving the Roots an early 1-0 advantage.

The Roots continued to pressure Phoenix and doubled their lead in the 22nd minute. Bertin Jacquesson created the opportunity with a run down the left side before finding Danny Trejo, who redirected the cross into the net to make it 2-0.

Phoenix came out with more pressure after halftime, but Oakland's defense held firm. Goalkeeper Kendall McIntoshcontinued his strong run of form, helping the Roots maintain their clean sheet while Phoenix struggled to create dangerous chances.

Oakland eventually put the game out of reach in the 71st minute. De Vicente delivered another excellent ball into the box, finding Jacquesson, who finished the chance to give the Roots a 3-0 lead.
