Smoky Hill Varsity Football @ Cherokee Trail

Cherokee Trail dominated Smoky Hill on Thursday night, cruising to a 56–8 victory in the non-league matchup. The Cougars controlled the game on both sides of the ball, while Smoky Hill struggled to keep pace with Cherokee Trail’s high-powered offense.

Cherokee Trail quarterback B. Peterson had an efficient night through the air, completing 4 of 7 passes for 100 yards and four touchdowns. Running back O. Newell also contributed 66 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries, while receiver E. Smith caught three passes for 79 yards and three touchdowns. For Smoky Hill, quarterback T. Lynchcompleted 11 of 16 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown, but the Buffaloes were unable to overcome Cherokee Trail’s offensive explosion.

With the win, Cherokee Trail improved to 2–0, while Smoky Hill fell to 0–2 on the season.
