San Jose Earthquakes II earned one point at home before falling to Austin FC II in a penalty shootout Sunday night after the sides played to a 1-1 draw in MLS NEXT Pro action.

Austin FC II struck first in the 32nd minute when Evan Watt delivered a long ball that found Stefan Dobrijevic, who finished from the left side of the penalty area to give the visitors the lead. San Jose responded early in the second half as Alejandro Cano converted off a set piece into the top right corner of the net in the 53rd minute, leveling the match at 1-1. Despite chances at both ends, neither side could find a winner in regulation.
With the match tied after 90 minutes, the teams headed to a penalty shootout. Both clubs converted three of their opening five attempts before Austin goalkeeper Erik Lauta came up with a crucial save in the sixth round. Evan Watt then buried the decisive penalty to hand Austin FC II the extra point.
